Photographer Gets Injured While Attempting To Shoot And Dance At The Same Time
Boy Flores being transported from the dance floor
Quezon City, Phil. — The local emergency services were called to The Glass Garden Events Venue at 10 PM Saturday night to transport a badly injured man from the dance floor to a nearby hospital, following injuries sustained while attempting to moonwalk during Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.”
Many of the guests at the wedding stated that Flores was the hired photographer for the evening. Witnesses say that he was “everywhere,” professionally running back and forth to capture the couple’s big day.
“Everything seemed to be going according to plan,” one of the guests stated. “There seemed to have been nothing wrong with him. He was climbing up steps and chairs, getting down low, and just doing, what I guess, would be photography stuff,” another guest shared.
A Sudden Onset of MJ Fever
Apparently, it wasn’t until the live band began to perform renditions of Michael Jackson’s most popular songs that the photographer began to show some kind of overt excitement.
“He was pretty cool and collected all throughout the day, directing the groups and having just a good time with us,” said the groom. “But when the band started playing ‘Beat It’ during the middle of the reception, it looked like something just took over him.”
According to many of those in attendance, the photographer first started using his hands to simulate dance moves, forming shapes and waves, followed by some hip sways and shoulder shakes. As the band played back-to-back Michael Jackson hits, Flores became increasingly committed to his burgeoning dance routine—lifting his elbows and elbowing the air, all while continuing to shoot scenes on the dance floor.
The Fatal Moonwalk
“When the bassline intro of ‘Billie Jean’ began, it looked like something just completely took over him,” one of the groomsmen shared. Reports indicated that Flores turned his head from side to side, back and forth, before his body and legs followed in an attempt to mimic the King of Pop’s legendary moonwalk.
“We were all impressed; he was doing pretty good,” Kim, the vocalist of the band, told The Tog Times. “He moved his cameras to the sides like it was his MJ jacket and started moonwalking toward the stage. I was singing, 'Momma often told me be careful who you love,' and just as I was singing 'be careful,' he tripped on the stairs leading to the stage. His camera went up and over, and instead of securing himself for the fall that was coming, he grabbed the camera mid-air, stiffened his arms straight out, and absolutely ate the stairs and the floor with his back and head.”
Apparently, Boy Flores sprained several regions of his spine and bruised, if not fractured, a rib or two, as well as concussed his brain having landed poorly on his head—but his dual Canon EOS R3 and EOS-1D X Mark III setups didn’t even get a scratch.
As of publishing, Boy is pending surgery to repair his ribs and stabilize his spine. Fortunately, Mr. Flores still had his limbs, ribs and most of his faculties and was able to complete his assignment that night before heading to the emergency room.
