Authorities Intervene as "Sony Shooter" Disturbs Peace in SoHo

Sony shooter escorted for disorderly conduct

SOHO, NYC — Local law enforcement was summoned to a bar at the corner of Spring and Sullivan Streets after reports of a lone man engaging in an aggressive, one-sided conversation with a barstool.

According to witnesses, the individual entered the establishment, slammed a mirrorless camera onto the mahogany bar, and began an incessant monologue regarding its technical merits to a woman sitting nearby—and eventually to anyone who made eye contact.

After several minutes of nodding politely, the young woman was seen fleeing the scene. Undeterred, the man continued narrating the camera’s specs as though she were still present.

The Suspect Profile

Bystanders described the man as a white male, approximately 28–35 years old, sporting a man-bun, distressed denim, and a flannel shirt. Most notably, he was wearing a set of leather harness straps that witnesses described as "looking like tactical suspenders."

One witness, who requested anonymity for fear of being tagged in a gear-review thread, said: “Out of nowhere, the guy leans over and tells me he ‘shot Sony.’ I was terrified. I thought he was confessing to a crime. Then he holds up this small plastic box and starts talking about eye-tracking.”

The witness added, “He had the same energy as my vegan friends. I knew once he started, he wasn’t going to shut up, so I closed my tab and ran.”

The Official Report

The Tog Times obtained a copy of the NYPD incident report, which confirmed the man was eventually released on his own recognizance. Officers determined he was "no threat to public safety," merely a victim of extreme brand loyalty.

The report noted that the man continued to offer unsolicited testimony even as he was being processed. “The real-time tracking is so advanced,” the man reportedly told the booking officer, “that it knows where a subject is going before they’ve even decided to move.”

The reporting officer noted that at no point during the interaction was the suspect asked for a gear recommendation.
